Remember the omnidirectional sound with all UE speakers, the Megaboom has it as well, a full 360 degrees sound that makes it feel you have speakers all over unlike the Charge 4 which is a front-end sound or one-directional sound. When it comes to sound, the Megaboom 3 has deeper bass and an ideal Bluetooth speaker for an outdoor party, not only bass, it is also loud and better than Charge 4.

The Charge 4 does have good sound even for outdoor parties, but you wouldn’t enjoy the sound on high volume just like Megaboom 3, the sound gets affected by what seems like a distortion. For me, having it inside the house on medium volume brings the best of Charge 4. There are other ways Megaboom 3 is better with sound, the sound setting can also be customized using the app, you can tweak it as you want, but the Charge 4 app doesn’t do this.

Firstly, the battery life of Charge 4 and MEgaboom 3 is the same, 20 hours of playtime, but both consume more power on high volume, the two speaker uses Bluetooth 4.2. Megaboom 3 can be charged wirelessly using the UE charging base, this comes at an extra cost, but the Charge 4 only uses a USB cable. With the Megaboom 3, you change the equalizer settings through the app, with the Party Up you can also connect other UE speakers up to 150 which to me is unrealistic, connecting 150 speakers when you can get one Bluetooth like the Bose SoundLink Revolve.

The Megaboom 3 also has a Block Party that let two the speaker connect two devices, and the Magic button automatically plays music from your selected playlist through the app. Charge 4 also uses an app that is not so great as the Megaboom app, the app has no equalizer setting, and not much you can do with the app. You can also connect two devices at the same time. With the JBL connect+, you can pair other JBL speakers that are compatible with Connect+ not Connect, making it unpleasing to only connect specific speaker models from the same manufacturer.

With the JBL Connect app you can connect two PowerBoost speakers by pressing the PartyBoost button, but this works with only PartyBoost speakers and will not work with speakers that uses the Connect+ button feature like the JBL Flip 4. With the JBL connect app, you can rename the flip 5, but cant change some settings like the bass and treble sounds. The Boom 2 can connect 2 Bluetooth devices and pair more than 100 boom speakers, and you can change the EQ sound settings.

Features: Winner = JBL Flip 5

But when it comes to solid sound a deeper bass, Flip 5 has a very deep strong bass as to all JBL speakers. With Boom 2, you can adjust the equalizer settings to choose what sound you want with the Boom App, but with Flip 5, you can perform such a task because the app has no equalizer settings.

Sound quality: Winner = JBL Flip 5
